We pride ourselves on having an incredibly talented and passionate team that brings a diverse range of skills and experiences to offer our campers a one-of-a kind experience! Many members of our team have extensive backgrounds in summer camp programming, recreation, coaching, and outdoor education. Our team believes in the incredible potential camp can offer kids, and the growth that comes with building new friendships, challenging yourself to break outside of your comfort zone, and being able to appreciate and enjoy your natural environment. They are the ones your campers will come home raving about!
Your camper's safety is a significant aspect of our team's training. We train our staff to assess potential risks in all activities they are facilitating. We also train our team on our procedures and protocols for emergency scenarios such as severe weather drills, lock-downs, lock-outs, and lost camper drills. Our entire team is CPR and First Aid certified.

One of the hallmarks of our program is the Counselor-In-Training program, an advanced leadership program for our 15-year-old campers. The goal is to provide our oldest campers with skills that will translate to not only being a great camp counselor, but to becoming an overall impactful individual in their communities.
As a Counselor-in-Training (CIT), your camper will be expected to:
Participate in advanced leadership curriculum and programming
With staff’s guidance, plan and facilitate a Camper’s Choice activity.
Be a consistent, positive role model for our younger campers.
and make some incredible friends!
Although CITs are learning an abundance of new skills, they still get to participate in all camp activities!
Once your 15-year-old registers for camp, you will receive a short application for the program. This process will allow us to review the incoming CITs and ensure they are ready to take on this fantastic responsibility and opportunity.

Stone Canyon campers will reside in one of our cabins, Timberline or Falcon. Our bunk houses are dorm-style accommodations, with each building holding 30-50 campers. The campers are separated by age into smaller cabin groups.
We hope that your bunk group will be like a second family during camp. While we try to take your bunk-mate requests into consideration, part of the magic of camp is forming new friendships!
Timberline and Falcon have private bathrooms and showers with locking doors. All of our facilities have electricity, running water, and heat in the event we experience a cooler evening. We also have full-time maintenance staff to ensure all campers' stays are comfortable.

We run "family style" meals to bring back the original social networking: conversation! We allow our campers to choose their own seats at each meal and emphasize connecting with their peers.
Our food is like no other camp! Our chefs take care of campers and staff, providing nutritious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Vegetarian options, fresh fruit and desserts are provided. We are a nut-aware facility (we serve no nuts but may have items processed in facilities where nuts are processed), and are able to accommodate many food-related allergies or dietary restrictions including vegetarian/vegan diets, gluten-free options (we do not have dedicated gluten-free facilities but do our best to avoid any cross-contamination), dairy-free options, and other allergies.
Registration includes sharing allergies and dietary needs - all dietary information is accessed directly by our Kitchen Manager. If dietary restrictions change between registration and camp, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Kitchen Manager.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with your camper! While we aim to build leadership skills and provide your camper with an amazing experience, we always make safety our top priority at Stone Canyon.
HEALTH CARE & WELLNESS
Our infirmary is staffed 24/7 by a licensed nurse. The environment is welcoming for kids that may feel a little under the weather. Our nurse is always on-site to handle the distribution of medications and any emergencies that may arise. The infirmary is fully stocked with basic over-the-counter meds and they are available to all campers, with parent and nurse approval.
EMERGENCY SERVICES
A major benefit of our location is its easy accessibility. Larkspur FD & EMS are only 5 minutes away and the nearest hospital is 20 minutes away in Castle Rock. We have vehicles ready in the event we need to transfer a camper for sudden illness or injury.
As an entity of Douglas County School District, Stone Canyon has access to DCSD Security 24/7 in the event of any emergency or accident.
PARENT CONTACT
We can be reached by phone or email while camp is in session. Generally no news is good news, but should an emergency situation present itself, we will contact the parents and families to inform you of what has taken place and the steps taken to respond.
